Maputo, Mozambique, 21 Dec – Refurbishment work on the Massingir dam, which was
damaged in May 2008, are due to begin in the first half of next year, the director
general of ARA-Sul, Olinda de Sousa said.
According to Mozambican newspaper Noticias, the African Development Bank, via the
African Development Fund, will fund the construction work estimated to cost US$20.6
million.
Olinda de Sousa said that the Southern Regional Water Administration (ARA-Sul) is
concluding the design and specifications for refurbishing several of the dams moving
parts.
As well as this, ARA-Sul also received funding for the second stage of rehabilitation
of Massingir.
Olinda de Sousa said that the international public tender for pre-qualification of
